Singapore
Singapore, January 19, 2012 – Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed Peter Elston to the newly created position of Head of Asia Pacific Strategy & Asset Allocation. Peter, who has been with Aberdeen for four years as an Asian investment strategist based in Singapore, will report both to Hugh Young, Head of Aberdeen’s Asian business, in Singapore and Mike Turner, Head of Global Strategy & Asset Allocation, in Edinburgh. As an Asian investment strategist, Peter has been a member of the Global Strategy Team, led by Mike, as well as a member of the Asia Pacific Multi-Asset Fund tactical asset allocation team, since 2009. Peter will work closely with members of Aberdeen's Asian equity and fixed income teams who will continue to manage the underlying asset classes into which existing multi asset mandates feed.
Peter Elston, newly appointed Head of Asian Multi-Asset, comments: “The case for broad investment exposure to Asia is a simple and compelling one. Aberdeen already has strong track records in the key underlying asset classes of Asian equity, fixed income and property around which we will continue to grow multi asset products.”
Hugh Young, managing director of Aberdeen Asset Management Asia, comments: “Asia will remain a growth region for decades to come. Peter's appointment is recognition of the increasing interest in Asian multi-asset solutions and represents a natural step in the development of our business in the region."
Peter joined Aberdeen in April 2008 as Strategist - Asia. He began his career in 1988 at Mercury Asset Management where he spent 11 years. For most of this time he managed Asian equity funds from Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has lived in Asia since 1989.
